SIMBA-Luso is a collaborative initiative designed to strengthen biosafety, biosecurity and resilience in Portuguese-speaking countries. This initiative is an integral part of SIMBA (Signature Initiative to Mitigate Biological Threats in Africa) within the framework of the Global Partnership against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction.
With a multi-sectoral approach, they aim to strengthen science diplomacy networks by sharing knowledge between institutions. With the support of strategic partners, we work to integrate Portuguese-speaking countries into the main international initiatives, promoting a sustainable ecosystem of biological security.
Objectives
Develop and implement training activities on biosafety, biological safety and biological risk management.
Creating a multisectoral culture in the field of biosafety and biosecurity.
Consolidation of the Science Diplomacy network: transnational monitoring of threats to biological resilience.
Creation of capacities to mitigate threats of biological origin:Participation of stakeholders in the main international networks.Sustained and resilient cooperation and assistance.
Framework
The project emerges as a cooperation platform, aligned with the guidelines of the Africa CDC and the United Nations, aimed at creating sustainable policies and infrastructures.
